And with social media, you can lose it in even less time. Think about how long it takes to write a tweet. The good news is that for whatever reason a reputation is trashed, steps can be taken to repair it.
As part of GroundFloor Media’s service line offerings, we help businesses, organizations and individuals with reputation management issues. Tools we use include earned and paid media campaigns, enhancing social media and online presence and community outreach.
But thought leadership and rebuilding a reputation takes commitment to developing real content and giving it time to gain traction. Here are five tactics that we recommend taking if you are having reputation issues or want to avoid them:
Own Your Search Engine Results Page: Don’t be happy with only a handful of links at the top of a search engine results page for you or your brand. Take advantage of results by working to control as much of it as you can, particularly for results that show up on the first two pages of Google searches
Be Social: Claim your brand’s or personal social media profiles and use them daily.
Blog: If you don’t already have a blog, consider starting one. Regular blogging is another way to get your brand out across digital mediums
Be Creative: Take advantage of different online platforms. For instance, create short, informative videos to post on YouTube, which tends to rank very well on Google and other search engines.
Don’t Forget Public Relations: Have a proactive PR strategy beyond releasing company news in a press release. Look for opportunities to reach all of your target audiences and determine the most effective vehicles to reach them.
