Jennefer Traeger | Senior Director of Communications

Biography | The Real Story

With a strong background in consumer and high-tech public relations as well as public affairs, Jennefer Traeger brings a wide breadth of expertise to the GFM team, where she works on a variety of accounts ranging from national beverage brands to health care initiatives.

Jennefer has more than 18 years of experience directing public relations campaigns – from the introduction of the nation’s first camera phone to the repositioning of an industry giant, from the launch of a new low-carb beer to a multitiered public education campaign on the dangers of youth drug use. Former clients of Jennefer’s include Nortel, Molson Coors, America on the Move, Baan, Visa USA, Xerox, Second Harvest, The Wild Divine Project, Cold Stone Creamery, Conceptions Women’s Health and Fertility Specialists and the Vision Council of America.

She joined GFM from Metzger Associates, where she served on the agency’s senior management team. Jennefer was responsible for developing and overseeing the strategic direction and tactical execution of accounts such as Sprint PCS, Covad and Homeport.

Before joining Metzger Associates, Jennefer served as a senior account manager at Text 100, a global public relations firm, where she was responsible for managing the Xerox Global Services business, public relations efforts relating to Xerox’s Olympic sponsorship and a team of five. Jennefer is a recipient of the Text 100 Excellence in Client Service Award, which is given to one employee each year, and multiple PRSA PRism awards.

Jennefer also spent several years at Fleishman-Hillard in Washington, D.C. During her tenure at Fleishman-Hillard, Jennefer was a key member of both the technology and consumer teams and was given the honor of working on-site at the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy as part of the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign.

Jennefer holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.

She is a Utah native, who grew up in Park City, Utah, long before there was a movie theater or a grocery store. Jennefer, her husband and two sons recently returned to Utah, and when not rooting for both the Utes and the Park City High School Miners during football season, she loves to travel, shop and investigate the latest spa treatments.

Biography | The Real Story

Super Shopper
Jennefer Traeger grew up in Park City, Utah, skiing on the weekends and occasionally during the week, (shh – don’t tell her teachers!). It was there, at age 12, that Jennefer got her first taste of the real world…and it was delicious. That’s because her first job was scooping cookie-dough balls at The Cookie Bear in Park City. And if you don’t think that your first job can carry over into your adult life, just read Jen’s “guilty pleasure” below.

Since her days as the go-to girl for ski town munchies, she’s become the go-to girl for a long list of national editors. So much so, in fact, that she’s been featured in the pages of Ladies Home Journal and Glamour magazines. She’s also dabbled in D.C., doing PR for the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign and working on-site at the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, reporting to the drug czar.

But like most of us, she now calls Denver home. Could it have anything to do with our city’s great shopping? Could be - she no longer daydreams of becoming a buyer for Bloomingdale’s. She’s just focused 100 percent on PR. When she’s not shopping, she’s focused 100 percent on PR. Since 2002, GFM has been lucky to call this results-oriented straight-shooter one of our own. Plus she can keep a party going with her laughter and smile – not to mention scoops of cookie dough.

Outside of work, and of course, shopping, she enjoys wine, travel, catching up on “Gossip Girl” and spending time with her husband and two darling sons, not necessarily in that order. While they’ve never met, she’s also pretty sure she and Drew Barrymore would turn out to be the best of friends. Unless she caught Drew on her cell at the gym - that’s something Jen just can’t tolerate.

Top Five:
On the iPod: Lots of Lady Gaga
Pet Peeve: Traffic!
Collections: Beanie Babies. Hundreds of them
Guilty Pleasure: Chocolate chip cookie dough and wine
The inside scoop: She hasn’t missed the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in 20 years
