Jennifer Wills | Senior Public Relations Manager
in
Biography | The Real Story
With experience at both corporations and PR agencies, Jennifer Wills brings a solid understanding of strategic communications to the GroundFloor Media team. She recognizes the importance of fully integrating the communications plan into the company’s overall marketing goals and objectives. Since joining GroundFloor Media, Jennifer has worked on national and local accounts, including Molson Canadian, Young American Center for Financial Education, Starbucks Coffee Company, James Avery, Morris Animal Foundation, ZIMA, The Children’s Hospital, Qdoba Mexican Grill and VICORP Restaurants Inc. – the parent company of Village Inn and Bakers Square restaurants.
Prior to joining GroundFloor Media, Jennifer worked for Ultimate Electronics, a leading consumer electronics retailer that had 65 store locations in 14 markets. During her tenure at Ultimate Electronics, Jennifer focused on internal communications and promotional sponsorships. She managed the content on the company’s Intranet and worked with the senior management team on product integration, store openings and communication between the corporate office and individual stores. Jennifer was the recipient of the 2003 “Corporate Employee of the Year” award.
Jennifer began her career in public relations at Barnhart/CMI, a full-service marketing agency in Denver. While at Barnhart, she implemented media relations and community outreach programs for Jones International University, Canine Hardware, Zeppelin Development, Colorado Water Protection Project, Ultimate Electronics and glo Boutique. Additionally, Jennifer worked with Wells Fargo Bank in Colorado and Wyoming to develop Wells Fargo Link, a customer loyalty program.
Jennifer has a proven track record for developing successful community outreach programs for nonprofit organizations. She worked with the Webb-Waring Institute to promote community awareness for Kilimanjaro 2002, a national fundraising climb to raise awareness and research funding support. Jennifer helped secure numerous media placements in Colorado publications and outlets, including the Rocky Mountain News, The Denver Post, KUSA Ch. 9 and numerous local community papers. The fundraiser alone raised more than $400,000 from more than 700 donors for biomedical research.
A native of Colorado, Jennifer holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism
from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She lives in central Denver with
her husband and their four-legged friend. Jennifer and family can usually
be found enjoying the outdoors – gardening, hiking and skiing, but never
golfing. Even though her husband is a professional golfer, that is one activity
she has not mastered.
Biography | The Real Story
Jennifer collects milk mustache ads. Nobody knows why. But since she’s been doing it since the 8th grade, she figures she won’t mess with a good thing. Born in Michigan, her family moved to Darien, Conn., Santa Monica, Calif. and finally Denver, where she settled right in. Being on the crew team at CU Boulder, she learned that determination and focus help one accomplish whatever they want – even if what they want is simply more milk mustache ads.
She loves to travel and has spent time in Denmark, France, Italy and Russia, among other exotic locales. But don’t think for a moment that you’ll catch this jet setter crashing in a hostel. She did it one night, and that was enough, claiming that noisy travelers and communal toilets are not really “her thing.” (She actually slept with her hand on her necklace all night long, scared that someone might take it!)
Jen loves cooking, reading, working on her house, hiking, skiing and watching movies with her husband. But bad drivers and liars be warned; our genuine, passionate and giving Jen doesn’t much care for your kind. “Jenniferisms” are her true claim to fame – these are words she makes up. They don’t really exist anywhere but in her mind.
She is an avid Junior Achievement volunteer and has taught the 5th grade class for several years. On Saturdays she can be spotted picking up a big bouquet of yellow flowers in her Volvo, and hopes, in the future, to waste away the retirement hours on the beaches of Positano, Italy. But until that day comes, just look for her at the next Ann Taylor sale, asking the clerk for an item that doesn’t exist, using a word she just made up.
