Rally Software: Getting the Attention of the Right Analysts
Rally Software, an on-demand provider of Agile Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) software development solutions, had met with top-tier IT analyst firms like Gartner, Forrester Research and IDC previously and even enjoyed a solid relationship with the lead Agile analyst at Forrester. But the executives at Rally wanted to heighten awareness of their offerings among ALM and Product Management (PM) analysts, a much larger segment of the industry than Agile, and one that is dominated by software giants like IBM, Borland and Serena. So they engaged the services of GFM Talk, the media and influencer practice of GroundFloor Media.
Our team at GFM Talk began an aggressive analyst outreach campaign targeting a variety of ALM and PM analysts at each of the three firms. By focusing on Rally’s position as an Agile ALM leader and highlighting Rally’s own customer successes, GFM Talk secured several analyst briefings. Thanks to these efforts and the quality of Rally’s executive briefing team, Gartner included Rally in its annual ALM Marketscope Report and singled out Rally as the only Agile ALM vendor to receive a positive rating.
Moreover, Gartner developed a detailed, non-commissioned case study of Rally customer Inovis, highlighting Rally’s role in the success of Inovis. Rally was also among the select companies that Forrester invited to participate in a special report titled “The Forrester Wave™: Requirements Management.” In this evaluation, Forrester gave Rally’s Agile ALM solution the top scores for collaboration and interfaces and the second-highest score for reporting.
