GroundFloor Media Hosts Expert Crisis and Issues Management Panel

GroundFloor Media’s Get Connected event offers expert advice on how to communicate difficult news during critical times

DENVER, CO – (February 12, 2009) – GroundFloor Media, Inc., a Denver-based public relations agency, today announced the initial event of Get Connected 2009. Launched in early 2008, the quarterly expert panel discussions are designed for senior-level communication and marketing leaders to gather in a peer-oriented environment to learn about trends in the industry, discuss challenges and opportunities, and network with one another.

The expert panelists featured on Feb. 18 include Gil Rudawsky, deputy metro business editor of the Rocky Mountain News; Lynn Kimbrough, communications director, Denver District Attorney’s Office; Ken Keymer, former president and CEO of VICORP Restaurants Inc. and former president of Noodles & Company; and Jim D. Leonard of Faegre & Benson LLP. The interactive discussion will focus on communicating difficult news to employees, shareholders, customers and the media during challenging times.

“Clearly, no organization looks forward to facing a situation that causes a significant disruption to their business, especially one that stimulates extensive media coverage,” said Ramonna Tooley, vice president and managing partner of GroundFloor Media. “Our team has helped countless organizations anticipate, evaluate, respond to and manage an array of issues ranging from Chapter 11 bankruptcies to product recalls to public health announcements. In addition to the traditional concerns companies have to deal with during a crisis, the rise of social media has added new complexities that companies never anticipated having to focus on in the past.”

Tooley will moderate the upcoming Get Connected panel and brings nearly 16 years of crisis and issues management experience to GroundFloor Media, having worked for USA Gymnastics, Indiana Sports Corporation, Lakewood Police Department and Swedish Medical Center handling crisis related to the Olympic gymnastics team, the Columbine High School shootings and countless crime scenes and high-profile hospital cases.

GroundFloor Media’s senior public relations counselors have provided strategic counsel on crisis planning and issues management for clients including Coors Brewing Company, Starbucks Coffee Company, PetSmart, Qdoba Mexican Grill, VICORP Restaurants Inc., Children's Hospital Colorado, Tennyson Center for Children and Alta Colleges.
