GroundFloor Media Receives Honor For Crisis Communication at Colorado Healthcare Communicators 2009 Annual Awards
Public relations agency recognized for outstanding proactive communications strategy for Boulder Community Hospital
DENVER, December 7, 2009 – GroundFloor Media Communications (www.groundfloormedia.com), a Denver-based public relations agency, received a Bronze Leaf award in the Media Relations – Crisis Communication category from Colorado Healthcare Communicators for its crisis communication work executed for Boulder Community Hospital.
GroundFloor Media was retained by Boulder Community Hospital (www.bch.org) in March 2009 to develop and help execute a proactive internal and external communications strategy centering on a surgical nurse drug diversion incident in order to ensure that all key audiences were communicated with in an appropriate and efficient manner. Working with the hospital, the GroundFloor Media team was able to help turn this incident from negative to neutral coverage in the media.
“No one looks forward to facing a situation that causes a significant disruption to their business, especially one that stimulates extensive coverage on and off line. Our team members have managed numerous crisis situations in a variety of industries, including healthcare, consumer products, food & beverage, tourism and technology,” said Ramonna Tooley, vice president and managing partner of GroundFloor Media. “In addition to advance planning, our team members specialize in providing onsite support during a crisis, which often translates to being in the trenches with our clients through the duration of the issue. It’s about communicating internally and externally to clear up misinformation and providing facts and key messages in order to remedy potentially negative outcomes.”
In addition to helping Boulder Community Hospital handle communications surrounding the drug diversion incident, GroundFloor Media also supported St. Anthony Central Hospital (www.stanthonycentral.org) during a similar situation and regularly provides crisis communication support to its clients.
