GroundFloor Media Expands Community Service Outreach With Two New Pro Bono Accounts
Jeremy Bloom’s Wish of a Lifetime and SafeHouse Denver to Receive Complimentary PR Services in 2011
DENVER, Feb. 24, 2011 – GroundFloor Media Communications, a Denver-based public relations agency, today announced Jeremy Bloom’s Wish of a Lifetime (JBWOL) and SafeHouse Denver as its nonprofit, pro bono accounts for 2011. GroundFloor Media will work with both organizations to develop strategic positioning, implement targeted media relations programs, and offer social media support across a variety of mediums.
JBWOL, a Colorado-based 501(c)3 organization that strives to make wishes come true for senior citizens, was established in 2008 by two-time Olympic Skier, former NFL player and Colorado-native Jeremy Bloom in living honor of his grandmother Donna Wheeler. Bloom left competitive sports to launch the foundation in order to initiate a cultural change by enriching the lives of seniors.
Since 1977, SafeHouse Denver has served victims of domestic violence and their children by offering an emergency shelter, as well as a non-residential counseling and advocacy center. All of the women, children and youth who come to SafeHouse Denver have access to a full range of bilingual programming, including individual counseling, group sessions, advocacy and safety planning.
“Over the past decade, GroundFloor Media has continually expanded our involvement in the community – giving back is core to who we are as individuals and as an agency,” said Laura Love, president and founder of GroundFloor Media. “Finding strong nonprofits to support within the community is important to us, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with these two Colorado-based organizations.”
Each year, GroundFloor Media donates the equivalent of nearly 15 percent of annual revenues back to the community – comprised of cash contributions, pro bono public relations, a reduced billing rate for nonprofit clients and staff time committed to community organizations.
In addition to pro bono accounts, GroundFloor Media’s community outreach efforts also include its Get Grounded and Get Giving programs. Get Grounded focuses on employee involvement in the community. Team members may choose to volunteer time through the donation of paid time off or to receive cash grants to nonprofits, schools or other Section 501(c)(3) organizations or projects for which they volunteer outside of business hours. In 2010, more than 25 organizations received cash grants or volunteer time from our staff of 25 team members.
Launched in 2010, Get Giving is another way for team members, as well as families, friends, clients and partners, to contribute to local organizations in need of charitable donations. Every other month, GroundFloor Media selects a local nonprofit beneficiary, including food pantries, animal shelters, schools, women’s shelters and other organizations with which our staff have personal connections. GroundFloor Media accepts donations at our office and delivers them to the facility.
To date, GFM has supported Platte Forum, SafeHouse Denver, Florence Crittenton Services, Colorado Youth at Risk, Warren Village and the Denver Dumb Friends League through our Get Giving program.
Over the past holiday season, GroundFloor Media took this program on the road by recruiting several of our industry and client partners to collect contributions as well. We worked with LiveWell Colorado, Westwood College, Young Americans Center for Financial Education, CCT Advertising, Bradley Consulting Group, Motive: A Hybrid Agency, BusinessWire Denver, Radius, Relish Studio and Activate to fill and deliver loads of donated products and goods to the Warren Village in Denver. GFM’s Get Giving donation is their largest single donation ever received.
