The inspiration for GroundFloor Media (GFM) emerged from founder Laura Love’s frustration working with PR agencies during the dot-com boom that provided her with mainly junior-level staff as she managed the communications efforts of a startup technology company in Colorado. It was in 2001 when she decided to create a better kind of public relations firm, one founded on a business model that is truly unique — and truly effective.
Love opened the doors of GFM with the promise to staff her agency with seasoned professionals who work as peers and offer results-driven communications services to clients nationwide. Now, well over a decade later, that vision for delivering seasoned expertise and results-driven campaigns with select client partners stands strong.
GFM has been recognized twice by Outside Magazine as the #1 Best Place to Work in America, and has been in the top 4 the past three years. In addition, GFM achieved B Corporation Certification in 2016, which is awarded by the global nonprofit B Lab and recognizes companies meeting the highest global standards for corporate transparency, accountability and social and environmental performance.
GFM is also nationally certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) by the WBE-West, a regional partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), and is certified by the City and County of Denver’s Division of Small Business Opportunity as a Minority/Women Business Enterprise (M/WBE), a Small Business Enterprise (SBE) and a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE). These certifications provide GFM with the opportunity to network and share best practices with other women-owned and small businesses, as well as serve as a resource to corporate and government entities that share an interest in supplier diversity.
GFM is also a member of PROI Worldwide, the industry’s largest partnership of integrated independent communications agencies, with offices in 110 cities in more than 50 countries.
In 2016, GFM launched a sister agency – CenterTable, which helps clients create direct and measurable connections with their target audiences through social media, digital advertising, websites, SEO, video production and creative content.
