GroundFloor Media Wins Silver Leaf Awards at Colorado Healthcare Communicators 2012 Awards Dinner

Public relations agency recognized for special event and social media program supporting Children's Hospital Colorado's "Speak Up" Campaign

DENVER, Oct. 19, 2012 – GroundFloor Media(GFM), a Denver-based, integrated agency focusing on strategic communications, digital and social media strategy and crisis communication and reputation management, received two Silver Leaf awards in the special event and social media program categories during the Colorado Healthcare Communicators (CHC) 2012 Awards dinner. The event was conducted at The Sherman Street Event Center in Denver on Oct. 18.

GFM received both awards for work completed on behalf of Children's Hospital Colorado (Children's Colorado), as part of a grant the hospital received from The Colorado Trust to help build public will among Colorado moms to achieve improved access to health care for Colorado's children.

The first award, in the category of "events with up to 200 attendees/participants," was for the "Speak Up for Kids' Health at the Capitol" event, conducted in February 2012 in collaboration with Children's Colorado and the Colorado Children's Campaign. Divided into two parts, the event provided attendees with tools and information to empower them to speak up about the important issue of access to health care for children in our state. In addition, attendees had the opportunity to meet in person with state legislators and share their thoughts directly with the elected officials who are making health care decisions for Coloradans.

GFM's work with Children's Colorado in relation to the same public will-building grant was also recognized with a Silver Leaf award in the "social media, other social medium" category. GFM and Children's Colorado leveraged YouTube to encourage Colorado's moms to speak up for access to health care. Specifically, they created and posted videos to a dedicated Speak Up For Kids! playlist on Children's Colorado's YouTube channel that highlights Children's Colorado's advocacy-focused events, extending the audience reach and "shelf life" of these events. The videos include a call to action for moms and other viewers, particularly those who were unable to attend an event in person.
