Another massive recall by Toyota Motor Corp.? When will the bad news stop for the automaker?

The silver lining in this week’s recall of 1.7 million vehicles, is that the news has been so negative for Toyota that this latest recall will simply be taken in stride by consumers. In terms of size and importance, it pales in comparison to last year’s recall of 3.4 million cars over braking issues. This latest recall has to do with fuel pump issues.

Since 2009, the world’s largest automaker has recalled about 16 million vehicles. For the latest recall, the company sent out a release to media outlets and posted information about it on its webpage. It includes a straightforward FAQ.

The auto maker seems to have learned that getting clear information out early is a neutralizer for bad press and consumer sentiment.
