We’re having a hard time writing about (or thinking about) anything other than our friends and family who are being affected by the floods throughout Colorado. And we’re consistently amazed at the power of social media in these disaster-related situations – from instant flash flood reporting that saves lives to a quick and easy means of letting people know you’re safe via Facebook or Twitter.
For all of its flaws and how it often permeates our lives, during times of crisis there is never a question about the value of social media and real-time communications. Kudos to all of the news outlets, first responders and “citizen journalists” for working to keep us out of harms way.
