While the world around us is getting into the giving season, here at GFM and CenterTable we like to think that there’s no one right time for giving. For us, giving back connects us to the communities, partners and clients that share our commitment to helping people who need it the most. This special edition of Weekly Reads outlines what we’re doing lately to stay connected and make an impact in our local community.
Get Grounded Foundation Announces 2019 Grantees
One of our favorite times of year is announcing the latest round of community grants from our Get Grounded Foundation! Created as the primary charitable giving arm of GFM and CenterTable, the Get Grounded Foundation provides one-year grants to nonprofits for new, entrepreneurial programs that directly support at-risk or neglected youth between the ages of 3 and 15 in the Denver area.
Find out what our seven most recent nonprofit grantees will be doing to support local youth with the collective $38,000 in grant funds we’re distributing this week.
Community Impact Week
Our giving efforts often extend beyond grant awards to include individual donations and boots-on-the-ground support, too. Each member of our team is involved in causes they care about personally, and many have joined a board or volunteer their time with local nonprofit organizations. And over this past week, our team was busy gathering donations for some of our favorite nonprofit partners around town too:
Colorado CASA Book Drive
We kicked off our Community Impact Week with a book drive aimed at stocking the five Denver metro area CASA programs with GED and prep test materials, parenting books, young adult novels, and culturally inclusive and empowering books. CASA volunteers will read the 235 books we collected with the child they represent or offer them as gifts. Watch this short video – produced by CenterTable – to learn more about Colorado CASA.
Bridge Project Winter Clothes Drive
Next, we tasked our team with bringing in new and gently-used winter clothing, including coats, hats, gloves, and more, to be distributed to the K-12 kids served by The Bridge Project. We managed to compile 83 winter clothing items to help keep them warm this winter! Watch this short video – also produced by CenterTable – to learn more about The Bridge Project.
Food For Thought Food Drive
Finally, our team gathered 1,600 boxes of mac and cheese to support Food for Thought Denver’s PowerSacks program. Food For Thought provides weekly PowerSacks to the kids they serve containing meals for their families to eat over the weekend.
Nonprofit Crisis Communication Panel
