At GroundFloor Media (GFM) and CenterTable, our client work is fueled by a culture of collaboration, respect, accountability and ethics. We are driven by those core values and are proud to support each other to do great work while also living our best lives. This collaborative atmosphere is one of the many reasons why we’ve been named No. 3 on OUTSIDE Magazine’s Best Places to Work of 2019. For the seventh consecutive year, we’re among the top 10 companies on the list — the longest-running company to make the top 10.
The magazine’s staff spends months carefully sifting through surveys and interviews directly from the staff of thousands of hopeful U.S. companies to identify the 50 companies highlighted on the list. Not only do the list-making companies provide great workplaces for employees, but they also encourage a balance between work and enjoying an active life in the great outdoors. Additionally, the companies pay particular attention to the environment in how they conduct business and in their production practices. This is the 12th year the magazine has compiled the list.
GFM and CenterTable are proud to have been recognized for a wide variety of non-traditional benefits that cultivate what we call a “work-life blend.” That said, it is important to also note that our culture is very much a result of our commitment to a fun, collaborative and supportive work environment. We have a social committee that plans regular events and offers employees the freedom needed to balance the responsibilities of both work and personal life. Team members can choose from a variety of work status options, including full-time, reduced full-time, part-time and consultant. We also have a Trusted Time Off policy (unlimited vacation) and we can work from anywhere, anytime — ski lifts and hiking trails included!
Another perk we were especially excited to have highlighted in the OUTSIDE announcement this year is our newly-renovated office that offers a modern open-space concept in which people come to work each day asking how they want to work that day versus where they want to work. In addition, there are new bennies like on-tap kombucha and beer, a meditation room, a café area, a video production studio, collaborative center table workspaces, a vintage Ms. Pac-Man arcade game and a library, as well as a suite of comfortable, noise-absorbing spaces in which you can hunker down and get work done.
GFM and CenterTable live by a spirit of giving and civic duty that drives a company-wide belief that we must be good tenants of the world. This empowers our employees to expand their passion for life and connect with their communities, partners and clients on an individual basis through opportunities like our volunteer program, which provides each team member with up to four hours a month of paid time off to spend giving back. Plus, GFM and CenterTable match all volunteer hours with a $10 donation per hour, up to $400 per calendar year. Since its inception in 2007, the volunteer program has donated more than $22,000 to area organizations. In 2015, GFM and CenterTable formalized their organizational commitment to the community by establishing the Get Grounded Foundation to provide one-year community grants to new, entrepreneurial programs and projects within existing, qualified nonprofits that directly support the healthy development of at-risk youth in the Denver metro area.
At the end of the day, we recognize that balance is nearly impossible to achieve, but by blending work and personal lives, we can accomplish a lot and feel fulfilled personally and professionally.
